Hailey Knox

Singer and songwriter Hailey Knox first built a following with acoustic guitar-and-loop-pedal meditations on hits by artists including Adele, the Weeknd, and Justin Bieber in the mid-2010s. Accompanying her guitar performances was a soulful voice that quickly drew comparisons to artists like Sheryl Crow and Ingrid Michaelson. She released her debut EP, A Little Awkward, in 2016 as she formulated a more sophisticated, full-band sound for her full-length debut, 2018's Hardwired Mixtape. She collected millions of streams for single "A Boy Named Pluto" in 2020, and singles like the next year's "Gucci Prada Balenciaga" and 2022's "Waiting on You" kept her in playlist rotations. The New York-based Knox rose to popularity with her online pop covers as a teen, but the social media star began singing long before that, taking on the Beatles as a toddler and performing as a duo with her sister Samantha in her preteen years. It wasn't until 2014, when she posted her first cover -- a rendition of A Great Big World's "Say Something" -- that she gained a larger audience that included industry vets and even pop singer Meghan Trainor. She signed a deal with S-Curve Records in late 2015, and by the following year, she had racked up over two million views and was nominated for a video platform's artist of the year at the 2016 Shorty Awards. Her debut EP, A Little Awkward, arrived on S-Curve in June of 2016. It included a bright mix of guitar-based tunes produced by Michael Mangini (Joss Stone), Peter Zizzo (Jason Mraz, Vanessa Carlton), and Steve Greenberg (Andy Grammer), including "Geeks," a song she co-wrote with singer Imani Coppola. The acoustic song "Hardwired" and misleadingly titled Hardwired Mixtape -- an 11-song debut album -- followed in 2018. After touring with Corinne Bailey Rae and returning to the studio, Knox came back in 2020 with the streaming hit "A Boy Named Pluto," which she followed with more singles, including 2021's "Gucci Prada Balenciaga" and 2022's "Outta Here" and "Waiting on You."
