Haifa Wehbe

A major Lebanese singer and actress, Haifa Wehbe is known for her dance-oriented style of Arabic pop, blending Middle Eastern and Western traditions. Initially garnering attention as runner-up for Miss Lebanon, Wehbe launched her pop career, breaking through with 2005's Baddi Eesh. She has remained a chart favorite with albums like 2008's Habibi Ana, 2012's Malikat Jamal Al Kawn, and 2018's Hawwa. Along with her pop success, Wehbe has also starred in various films and TV shows. Raised in Lebanon, Wehbe became interested in performing at a young age and started out competing in pageants. She won Miss South Lebanon while still in her teens and rose to further fame as the runner-up for Miss Lebanon. As a singer, she made her recorded debut in 2002 with the album Houwa Al Zaman. However, it was her sophomore album, 2005's Baddi Eesh, that she broke through to a wider audience, scoring hits with the singles "Ya Hayat Albi" and "Aana Haifa." A year later, she returned with another full-length, Farashet El Wadi. On the heels of her pop success, she launched her acting career, starring in the 2008 film Sea of Stars. That same year, she delivered her fourth album, the Mohsen Gaber-produced Habibi Ana, featuring the song "Moush Adra Estana." A children's album, Baby Haifa, arrived in 2010, after which she appeared in the 2011 Egyptian drama Dokkan Shehata. In 2012, she released her sixth album, Malikat Jamal Al Kawn, which she executive produced along with producer Hadi Sharara. The album, which featured a blend of Western and Middle-Eastern styles, topped streaming platforms. More acting work followed, including roles in films like 2014's Halawet Rouh and 2017's Khair and Baraka, as well as on TV in shows like Kalam Ala Warak, Maryam, and Lanaat Karma. In September 2018, she released her seventh studio album, Hawwa. Produced independently by Wehbe, the album was accompanied by lyric videos for each of the 15 tracks.
