Fabrice Aboulker

The French composer Fabrice Aboulker was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine on July 15, 1959. Raised by an accomplished family whose members included novelist Florence Aboulker and future governmental ambassador Nicolas Chapuis, he took an interest in music at a young age. By 1983, he had begun working with Marc Lavoine, serving as the pop singer's producer and songwriter. Although initial collaborations like "Pour une biguine avec toi" failed to become hits, the two scored their first hit in 1985, when "Elle a les yeux revolver…" climbed to Number 4 on the French charts. The song remained in the Top 10 for 13 weeks, followed by Top 20 singles like 1986's "Le Parking des anges" and "Bascule avec moi." Fabrice Aboulker continued working with Marc Lavoine throughout the late-'80s and 1990s, composing the majority of the music on gold-certified albums like 1989's Les Amours du Dimanche and 1995's 10 ans de Succès. He also wrote songs for other artists, including Michel Delpech, Hélène Segara, Patti Layne, Patricia Kaas, Florent Pagny, Sylvie Vartan, and Sofia Essaïdi. Beginning the 1990s, Fabrice Aboulker began scoring music for film, too, creating the soundtracks for La Cinquième Saison and Quand j'avais cinq ans je m'ai tué in 1993. He also expanded into theater, where he scored musicals like 2000's Les Mille et une vies d'Ali Baba and 2002's Ma plus belle histoire d'amour…Barbara, and television, where he wrote songs for the animated series Totally Spies!, the police comedy Les Bleus, premiers pas dans la police, and the theme song for the French adaptation of the American show This Is Us, titled "C'est nous."
