Caroline Pennell

Pop singer Caroline Pennell first made a name for herself in 2013 as a contestant on the fifth season of NBC's musical competition The Voice. During that season, she appeared on Cee Lo Green's team, making it deep into the season before being eliminated in November 2013. Quickly after her dismissal, Pennell signed with Nettwerk, which released her debut EP, The Race, in December 2013, but her career began in earnest when she released a series of EDM-influenced pop singles in 2016 and 2017. Caroline Pennell was born December 27, 1995 in Saddle River, New Jersey. Obsessed with music as a child, she eventually decided to pursue performing as a career. Taking a break from attending Tulane University, Pennell successful auditioned for The Voice for its fifth season, which began in September 2013. Selected for Cee Lo Green's team, Pennell stayed with the show through November 25, 2013. Almost immediately after leaving the show, she confirmed a deal with Nettwerk Music Group and released The Race on December 1, 2013. Pennell spent a quiet 2014, covering Badfinger's "Come and Get It" for a Linda McCartney tribute EP titled Music for Linda, and another cover -- that of Coldplay's "Yellow" -- appeared on the 2015 compilation From Cover to Cover: 30 Years at Nettwerk, but her next major move arrived in 2016, when she released "Follow the Sun." This single marked Pennell's transition to EDM-inspired pop, a shift in direction confirmed by the subsequent singles "Say It in Silence" and "Lovesick." The latter received several remixes in 2017, a year that also brought the single "Drive Me Home."
