Paula, come back!

When Robin Thicke wants to get his girl back...

By Barry Moore | In English | July 7, 2014

Paula, Robin Thicke’s seventh studio album, is filled with unrestrained emotion. The Californian hopes to win back his wife (the actress Paula Patton) and to achieve this, all means are justified. In this opus the singer creates pathos to arouse emotion, using his strong voice and fragmented delivery. The songs are rhythmic and Thicke’s distant and smoky tone alternates with dynamic moments of fresh and rousing vocals. Moving away from the controversial boldness of Blurred Lines, Paula’s sound is more tender, using backing vocals and intimate lyrics to create a heartfelt record. The album has been compared to other breakup records, such as Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear and Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks.
