In just over 20 years, the Duplantier brothers' gang has managed to impose its name well beyond France. So much so that for a few years now, France has been calling itself Gojira in the metal world. With their seventh album Fortitude, it's the planet that is in focus, and it's not just the metal planet that Gojira is concerned about. Already present on past songs, ecological themes are at the heart of this intense record which mixes all the elements that have forged the band's identity. Whether the topic is death, progressive ideals or ethics, Gojira has an immediately identifiable and truly singular uniqueness.
While in Paris, Joe, singer and guitarist, speaks to us about the genesis of Fortitude, as well as discussing the different commitments of the band, its relationship to sound and the secret of the longevity of the same line-up for more than two decades.
