Sabougla native Leo Bud Welch died two years ago, in 2017, but we can still hear him singing! Thanks to The Angels in Heaven Done Signed My Name, finalized by Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys, the bluesman from Mississippi - who waited until he was 81 years old to record his first album - proves that he had his own way of playing with blues and gospel. With Auerbach and his team, Welch had found the perfect partners to rejuvenate his art. Released in March 2019, The Angels in Heaven Done Signed My Name never sounds like the sad cry of an old and decaying bluesman, but rather like the juvenile and infectious call of a messenger of God who makes his followers rise at the snap of his fingers. Amen.
