Dabbling in rap but shining with R&B melodies, YK Osiris hit big with several singles before unleashing his full-length debut The Golden Child. Before the album's release, the soaring hooks and captivating flow of "Worth It" became a hit for the singer, and The Golden Child includes both the original version of the song and a remix featuring Tory Lanez and Ty Dolla $ign. Sex and romance are the only things on YK Osiris' mind throughout the album, with the repeated lyrics of "I want to have sex" on "Sexual" stating this as plainly as possible. Throwback R&B-styled production fuels steamy tunes like "Make Love" and the Kehlani duet "Ride." At times, the lyrics are lazy and one-dimensional, but what the album lacks in lyrical ingenuity is made up for with strong vocal performances and an overall laid-back charisma that carries the songs.
