Jacksonville, Florida-based rapper Yungeen Ace released the mixtape Step Harder on Cinematic Music Group in 2019. While he achieved commercial success with his 2018 single "Pain," the year was tumultuous for him, as he was the sole survivor of a drive-by shooting which claimed his brother. This tragedy, as well as a lifetime of being exiled, inform Ace's grim, harrowing lyrics, but he remains strong and soldiers through it all. The release includes guest appearances by DeJ Loaf, Boosie Badazz, Lil Durk, and others. Step Harder debuted at number 81 on the Billboard 200 following its November 2019 release.

Hip-Hop: 8 Legendary Producers

Can we imagine Guru without DJ Premier and De La Soul without Prince Paul? Behind every iconic rapper and cult group, there is a visionary producer who learned from his predecessors and developed his own sound. From the pioneer Marley Marl, who laid the foundations for modern production by showing what could be done with the first samples, to the shooting star J Dilla who, before his death at the age of 32, managed to leave a lasting mark on the genre, not to forget Bomb Squad’s sonic revolution and Dr Dre’s undisputed dominance on the West Coast.
