Combining indie rock, epic chamber pop, cabaret-style vaudeville, and electronic folk, German outfit Get Well Soon's 2008 debut album is an eclectic and experimental affair which echoes OK Computer-era Radiohead. The wordily titled Rest Now, Weary Head! You Will Get Well Soon, produced by frontman Konstantin Gropper, features the singles "If This Hat Is Missing, I Have Gone Hunting," and "Witches, Witches! Rest Now in the Fire," and a cover of Underworld's '90s dance anthem "Born Slippy."

In your panoramas...
My Bloody Valentine, the Inner Experience

Thirty years after its release, My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" remains the craziest album of the 90s. This electric monument in the form of a wall of sound was a product of Kevin Shields' deranged mind. It turned the history of rock upside down and remains a major source of inspiration for many musicians from all walks of life.

And then Nirvana Killed Rock

In 1987, Nirvana was born: the most unexpected punk swerve of the end of the 20th century. A rocketing career, international hits, hordes of fans and a tragic epilogue for this worldwide phenomenon. Although in the '90s the label came to be associated with indie rock, the modern-day Merge Records roster is diverse.
