Chandos

Founded in 1979, Chandos Records is named after the first Duke of Chandos. The Duke was an aristocratic patron who supported Handel, amongst others. Following its namesake’s example, Chandos has worked tirelessly for over thirty years to protect and promote the neglected masterpieces of English music. The label has released the complete oeuvres and symphonies of Arnold Bax and Vaughan Williams, alongside rehabilitating the works of Gerald Finzi, Charles Stanford, Herbert Howells and William Alwyn. Chandos has specialized in the rediscovery of old repertoires; its label ‘Chaconne’ has begun editing unknown compositions by Leclair, Telemann, and, appropriately, Handel. ...
