Legendary pianist Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938) left a huge catalog of over 400 pieces and over half are transcriptions, arrangements or paraphrases for piano. This recording offers an eclectic overview of the art of transcription of Godowsky through his finest achievements. Singular pianist, imbued with an amazing charisma, Laurent Wagschal proposes a poetic reading of his most famous standards, Etudes de Chopin, through the American national anthem, Le Cygne by Saint-Saëns, Bach or few Schubert Lieder and Schumann.
