Mutilé par le compositeur et critique musical belge François-Joseph Fetis qui lui donna à tort le titre inaproprié L'Africaine puisque l'action se déroule au Portugal et aux Indes, l'opéra original écrit par Meyerbeer renaît de ses cendres sous le nom Vasco de Gama attribué par le compositeur grâce à la belle initiative de l'Opéra de Chemnitz. Donnée une dizaine de soirée au Théâtre de Chemnitz, ce nouveau Vasco de Gama enregistré en mars 2013 par la Radio allemande a rencontré son public malgré sa rareté, un certain nombre de spectateurs n’hésitant pas à revenir plusieurs fois. Souhaitons que cette réussite puisse marquer le début d’une authentique renaissance d’un compositeur sous-estimé.

Album Description

Mutilé par le compositeur et critique musical belge François-Joseph Fetis qui lui donna à tort le titre inaproprié L'Africaine puisque l'action se déroule au Portugal et aux Indes, l'opéra original écrit par Meyerbeer renaît de ses cendres sous le nom Vasco de Gama attribué par le compositeur grâce à la belle initiative de l'Opéra de Chemnitz. Donnée une dizaine de soirée au Théâtre de Chemnitz, ce nouveau Vasco de Gama enregistré en mars 2013 par la Radio allemande a rencontré son public malgré sa rareté, un certain nombre de spectateurs n’hésitant pas à revenir plusieurs fois. Souhaitons que cette réussite puisse marquer le début d’une authentique renaissance d’un compositeur sous-estimé.
