Dorian Electra

Boundless songwriter/performer Dorian Electra deconstructs pop music with abandon, combining disparate genres as they see fit and winding up with a funky, explosive sound beholden to no rules. In addition to collaborations with Charli XCX, Pussy Riot, Lady Gaga, the Village People, and other larger-than-life stars, Electra perfected their experimental sound on albums like 2023's Fanfare. Electra was born in Houston, Texas in 1992, and grew up interested in music and philosophy. Around 2009, they began combining these interests in a series of songs, videos, and other productions focused on philosophy, economics, queer histories, and intersectional feminism. Along the way, Electra gained a sizable following, which only grew when they had a cameo appearance alongside Mykki Blanco on the 2017 Charli XCX track "Femmebot." In 2019, Electra released their debut album, Flamboyant, a wild blend of styles and ideas including musical moments of EDM, hyperpop, metal, and more, with recurring lyrical themes of gender fluidity and sexual identity. Their second album, My Agenda, appeared the following year. My Agenda was heavy on guest collaborations, and included songs made with Pussy Riot, Sega Bodega, Rebecca Black, the Village People, and many others. Following a few remixes and non-album singles, a third album, Fanfare, was released in October of 2023.
