Diana Navarro has made a name for herself as a rising flamenco fusion artist, but for her fourth solo album the singer felt a respectful tribute to her musical roots was long overdue. Recording live at Seville's Teatro Quintero in July 2011 in front of a small audience, Navarro is accompanied by Antonio Campos and Juan Antonio Suárez "Cano" in a cante recital that pays homage to legendary artists such as La Niña de la Puebla, Pepe Pinto, Juanito Valderrama, Marifé de Triana, and Enrique Morente, all of whom had a decisive influence on Navarro's formative years. This release comes with a DVD of the performance.

In your panoramas...
Marc Ribot, the anti-guitar hero

For over thirty-five years, Marc Ribot’s name has been on the covers of albums by Tom Waits, Alain Bashung, Diana Krall, John Zorn, Robert Plant, Caetano Veloso and numerous other artists, and when he's not busy lending his unique guitar to others, the New Yorker takes pleasure, under his own name, in breaking down and re-building rock, jazz, funk, Cuban music and anything his fingers touch.

The Meters, funk “made in New Orleans"

Never mind James Brown, Sly Stone or George Clinton, The Meters are the true masters of funk! Let’s look back on the history of the grooviest band out of New Orleans, whose music has been abundantly sampled by almost all rappers.

Nebraska: When Bruce Springsteen Laid Himself Bare

In 1982, at the height of his glory, the Boss surprised the world with “Nebraska,” a stripped back and entirely acoustic album. A timeless masterpiece bathed in echoes and reflections. An album that describes an America from the margins, and that many consider his best.
