Camille Berthollet

Camille Berthollet is a French violinist and cellist known for her long collaboration in a string duo with her older sister Julie. She’s also a passionate advocate for sexual assault and harassment survivors in the classical music industry. She was born in Annecy, France in 1999, and she became interested in the cello when she was three years old. She began cello lessons when she was four, violin lessons when she was eight, and she enrolled in the Musimax program at the Geneva Conservatorium in 2009. From 2011 to 2013, she studied with Augustin Lefebvre at the Lyon Conservatorium, followed by undergraduate coursework at the Geneva University of Music with François Guye. From 2010 to 2014 she competed and won the first place in the Vattelot-Rampal Competition, the Swiss Youth Competition for Music, and the Popper Competition in Paris. Berthollet’s reputation was solidified in 2014 when she won the nationally televised Prodiges youth talent competition. This led to a recording contract with Warner Classics, and she released her premiere recording Prodigies: Camille in 2015, in collaboration with Guillaume Vincent, the Auvergne Orchestra, and Gautier Capuçon. This was followed by Camille & Julie Berthollet in 2016, #3 in 2017, and Entre 2 in 2018. In addition to her very active career as a recording artist, she also performs as a guest soloist with major orchestras. Berthollet’s 2020s recordings include Series and Dans nos yeux.
