Trust Punks

Auckland indie rock quintet Trust Punks formed early in 2013 from the ashes of the more pop-oriented bands Nevernudes, Cool Cult, and Grass Cannons, determined to create a space where they could experiment unencumbered in combining elements of their disparate influences -- bands such as Wire, Deerhunter, Women, and Liars. Their intriguing sound merged post-punk, college rock, and noise rock tropes with complex political and philosophical lyrical themes. They self-released their debut single, the raw and muddy "Amphetamine Psychosis," in April 2013, and a number of further singles followed, sold through their Bandcamp page. These included the churning "Prone Hold," which ended up on their debut EP, Discipline, released in November 2014 by Auckland's Spunk Records. On their first full-length, 2016's Double Bind, Trust Punks emphasized their aggressive post-punk experiments and political outrage.
