Orietta Berti

Orietta Galimberti (June 1, 1943), mostly known by her stage name Orietta Berti, is an Italian singer and television personality. Born in the municipality of Cavriago in the province of Emilia-Romagna, Orietta Berti took up lyrical singing lessons from a very young age, encouraged by her music-loving father. After taking part in several singing competitions, she was offered a recording contract with Polydor, who released her studio debut Orietta Berti Canta Suor Sorriso in 1965. That same year, she won the music contest Un Disco per l’Estate with the song “Tu Sei Quello,” included in her 1966 sophomore effort, Quando la Prima Stella. Throughout the 70s, Orietta Berti released three highly-successful folk albums: Più Italiane di Me (1972), Cantatele con Me (1973), and Così Come Le Canto (1974), and made her acting debut on the films I Nuovi Mostri (1977) and Quando C'Era Lui... Caro Lei! (1978). Following a series of appearances at the Sanremo Music Festival during the 80s, Orietta Berti pivoted to television in the 90s, hosting Italia 1’s Rock’n’Roll (1993) and Domenica (1995-1996). She continued to perform and release albums well into the 21st century, most notably 2021’s La Mia vita E’ un Film, a collection of unreleased material that included the single “Quando Ti Sei Innamorato,” which premiered at the 71st edition of the Sanremo Music Festival.
