Singer/songwriter Cassandra Kouremenos (aka KALLITECHNIS) infuses her music with a blend of soul, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and house. Her aim is to provide egoless music that can heal and help, aided partially by her psychology degree and her interest in art therapy. Kouremenos grew up in a Greek family in the Park Extension area of Montreal. Exceptionally talented as a child, she became a self-taught singer, songwriter, dancer, and visual artist, using her gifts in various talent competitions. She later went on to study psychology at McGill University, something that would become interwoven with her music. She began posting cover songs online in 2014, catching the attention of her future manager. This quickly bloomed into her first original track, "Talk Talk Talk," in 2016. The following year, she was faced with the decision of whether to take on a master's in art therapy or pursue music, choosing the latter while continuing to apply the former to the music she made. Her debut EP, Wet Paint, arrived later the same year. She traveled to L.A. in 2018 to take part in a songwriting camp run by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. With a bevy of new techniques and inspiration from the camp, she released her second EP, 2019's Chromatic. Her third effort, Because It Feels Good, saw release in 2021.
