Iain Burnside

Scottish pianist and broadcaster Iain Burnside was educated at Merton College, Oxford, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. As an accompanist for vocalists, Burnside has performed with Susan Chilcott, Laura Claycomb, Matthew Rose, Robin Tritschler, Roderick Williams, and Sarah Connolly. He has also been the host of Voices and the Sunday Morning program on Radio 3. He is the author of a play based on the life of Ivor Gurney, A Soldier and a Maker, as well as other theatrical pieces, such as Journeying Boys, Why Does the Queen Die?, and Shining Armour. Burnside has participated in the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and taught at the National Opera Studio and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin. Burnside has recorded for Delphian, Opus Arte, Naxos, Signum Classics, and several other labels.
