Hyun Joong Kim

Kim Hyun-joong, born on June 6, 1986, in Seoul, South Korea, is a South Korean actor, singer, and songwriter. Despite dropping out of high school to pursue music, he later returned to complete his education and studied stage production at university. Kim made his debut as a member of the group SS501 in 2005 with their first EP, Warning. Their popularity soared with their second EP, Snow Prince, released just five months later. In 2007, SS501 debuted in Japan with the single "Kokoro," which reached number 5 on the Oricon charts, earning them a Newcomer Award at the Japan Gold Disc Awards in 2008. In 2011, Kim released his solo debut EP, Break Down, which became the ninth best-selling album of the year in South Korea. The following year, he released his second album, Lucky, which debuted at number 5 on Billboard's World Chart. Kim's success continued with his concert in Japan, leading to a deal with Universal Music Japan and a tour of seven cities. Throughout his career, Kim has achieved numerous accolades, including winning the Best Male Artist award at the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards and Best Asian Artist at the 2012 Asia Song Festival, releasing several successful albums and EPs, including Unlimited (2012), Round 3 (2013), and Imademo (2015). In 2017, Kim released the Japanese single album re:wind, which reached the Number 1 spot on the Oricon album chart. He followed it up with the albums Wait For Me in 2018 and New Way in 2019, featuring the lead single "Why." Kim continued to release new music, including the album The Moon, The Sun and Your Song in 2020 which went to number 4 and his second full Korean album A Bell of Blessing in 2020, followed by gold-certified album MY SUN, which was released in February 2023.
