Easy

A Swedish group with a penchant for pairing sweet harmonies with fuzzed-out and feedback-laden guitars, Easy's noisy, Brit-pop-influenced alt-rock invoked names like the Jesus and Mary Chain, Stone Roses, Sonic Youth, and the Chills. Originally operating under the moniker TV Pop Crisis, the band was formed in 1990 around the talents of Johan Holmlund (vocals), Tommy Ericson (guitar), Anders Peterson (guitar, keyboards), Rikard Jormin (bass, vocals), and Tommy Jonsson (drums). They inked a deal with the U.K. arm of Blast First Records shortly after forming, and released their debut album, Magic Seed, followed by a string of high-profile dates alongside Lush, the Charlatans, and House of Love. Label woes eventually sent the band back to Sweden, where they released a pair of singles, "Never Seen a Star" and "In Black and White," via Snap Records in 1993. They disbanded the following year, but re-formed in 2010 for a series of live performances to honor the 20th anniversary of their debut. In 2017 they released a new single, "Ask the Sky," ahead of the arrival of their sophomore long-player A Heartbeat from Eternity, produced by Charlie Storm and issued by A Turntable Friend, which also reissued Magic Seed the same year.
