DiY

A loose collective of DJs (including DK, Jack, Pezz, Digs & Whoosh, Emma & Pip, DJ Dick and Pip) who threw massive parties in vacant warehouses and rural areas, Nottingham, England's DiY was begun in 1989 as a response to laws and club procedures that stifled the original ethic of dance culture. As the rave movement grew out of the underground, more people began investigating, and DiY set up its own label for recording projects, called Strictly 4 Groovers. A DiY contract with Warp has also resulted in several singles and an album.
