Bob's Burgers

Chronicling the adventures of the Belcher family of Seymour's Bay, Bob's Burgers has become one of television's most popular animated sitcoms, attracting a passionately loyal following over the course of over 12 seasons for its combination of absurd humor, unconventional but genuine familial warmth, and playful, eclectic musical features. The show frequently features original songs tied into its episodes, many written in part by the show's creator, Loren Bouchard, that span plenty of styles and genres, all reflecting the antics and obsessions of the family and their friends. Bob's Burgers fans have shown enough love for the tunes that two collections have been released from their archives, 2016's The Bob's Burgers Music Album and 2021's The Bob's Burgers Music Album, Vol. 2, while a big-screen spin-off spawned The Bob's Burgers Movie (A Major Motion Burger Soundtrack). Created by animator and writer Loren Bouchard, the show debuted on Fox in 2011 and centered on the Belcher family, who run a burger restaurant in an East Coast seaside town. The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin (burger chef Bob Belcher), John Roberts (his wife Linda), Dan Mintz (neurotic eldest sibling Tina), Eugene Mirman (middle child and music/flatulence enthusiast Gene), and Kristen Schaal (bunny-ear-wearing future delinquent Louise) alongside a cast of recurring characters as the Belchers try to keep their business afloat. From the beginning, the show also featured different music for the closing credits of each episode, and soon original songs were making their way into the show, including boy band parodies from the fictional group Boyz 4 Now, Linda's spontaneous flights of vocal fancy, numbers influenced by Broadway musicals, 1980s pop pastiches, songs from Gene's portable keyboard, and a hit from the alternate universe of Seymour's Bay. By the time Bob's Burgers had completed its sixth season, Bouchard and his composers (most episodes have been scored by John Dylan Keith or the composition team Elegant Too) had written and recorded 106 songs for broadcast. In 2016, Sub Pop Records gave fans a souvenir with The Bob's Burgers Music Album, which included all of those tunes plus the series theme song and five bonus tracks with noted indie rock acts St. Vincent, the National, and the Magnetic Fields interpreting favorite songs from the series. The Bob's Burgers Music Album was successful enough that in 2020, Sub Pop released a pair of thematic digital EPs, Christmas (ten yuletide-themed tunes from the show) and Thanksgiving (five songs in honor of Bob's favorite holiday). A third holiday EP, Valentine's Day, was made available for lovers everywhere in 2021. The Bob's Burgers Music Album, Vol. 2 was also issued that year, featuring another 90 tracks that appeared on the show. The continuing success of Bob's Burgers prompted Bouchard and 20th Century Fox to put a spinoff feature film in production, and in May 2022, The Bob's Burgers Movie opened in theaters across North America. Three new songs were written for the picture -- "Sunny Side Up Summer," "Lucky Ducks," and "The Itty Bitty Ditty Committee/My Burger Buns" -- which appeared on the film's soundtrack album, The Bob's Burgers Movie (A Major Motion Burger Soundtrack), issued by Hollywood Records. The release also included 17 cues from the original score written for the feature by Tim Davies.
