Blis.

Playing powerful, dynamic music informed by emo, indie rock, and math rock, Blis. are an Atlanta-based band who turned a personal crisis into the basis of their breakthrough album. Blis. was formed in 2011 by guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Aaron Gossett, who initially planned for it to be a solo project. Eventually, Blis. expanded into a trio with the addition of bassist Luke Jones and drummer Jimi Ingman. The band didn't immediately mesh with the other acts on the Atlanta club scene, which was not friendly to rock at the time. Slowly but surely, Blis. began to make a name for themselves through persistent live work. In February 2015, Blis. dropped their debut EP, a four-song release called Starting Fires in My Parent's House. Blis. initially hoped to cut an album right away, but personal issues were complicating Gossett's life. He and his girlfriend discovered they were going to be having a child, and her parents strongly objected to their relationship and their decision not to marry. The situation made it more difficult for Gossett to focus on Blis., but it also informed a striking and deeply personal new set of songs. With Blis. expanded to a quartet with the addition of guitarist Josiah Smith, they began shaping the new songs into their second album, which they started recording after landing a deal with the independent label Sargent House. The first full-length album from Blis., No One Loves You, arrived in October 2017, and quickly earned enthusiastic notices from the alternative music press.
