Two Germans, an Austrian and an American united in their love of Telecasters, produce some smoky, mostly instrumental, blues ideal for late-night snuggling. Recording in Bavaria, the quartet tips the hat to George Benson at one point and includes the Peter Green instrumental "Albatross." "Nelly," a slow, dramatic blues, conjures the spirit of the late Roy Buchanan and is the album's standout. The singing, in English, is passable and the band shows a sense of humor by finishing with the rollicking "I Want a Fraulein."

"Thriller": The Anatomy of a Masterpiece

With "Thriller" in 1982, the best-selling album of all time, Michael Jackson broke down the boundaries between styles, races and audiences. The album completely rocked the 20th century pop music industry.

The Electrifying Gospel Sounds of Sacred Steel

The pedal steel guitar's rise in Pentecostal churches in the 1930s charged up worship services. As it emerged as the lead instrumental over the organ, a new form was born—Sacred Steel. Explore this gospel tradition from its early pioneers to current-day performers.

1984-1987: George Michael’s Transformation

In the mid-1980s—at the height of his fame with Wham!—George Michael decided to embark on a solo career. Following the release of huge hits like “Faith” and “Freedom! ‘90”, he would soon shoot into international superstardom. The boyish charm he possessed in the early days of his music career eventually began to take on a much more mature, masculine edge, setting him on a trajectory to become a revolutionary global icon.
