For Vangelis, music and science go hand in hand. A pioneer of electronic music, world-famous for the soundtracks to Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire, the Greek composer has drawn his inspiration here from the sounds of the launch of the Juno space probe, which is to explore Jupiter. He composed the choral symphony Mythodea for NASA's mission to Mars in 2001, as well as the album Rosetta in 2016 (named after the space probe). In addition to the voices of the scientists involved in the launch of the probe, the listener will be treated to a much more celestial human sound in Juno to Jupiter. The Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu is a special guest on three tracks on the album. While Vangelis' musical point of view on the conquest of space is relatively conventional (solar and grandiose synths, serene and epiphanic bells), he retains his incomparable sense of melody and a constant and sincere desire to speak from the heart. Like a child fascinated by constellations and surrounded by astonishing toys/instruments, Vangelis has fun spreading sunny, positive vibes throughout this bewitching album.
