The sophomore album from Illenium, 2017's Awake, features more of the San Francisco-born/Colorado-based DJ's lyrical, dance-oriented electronic pop. The album follows 2015's Ashes, which peaked at number six on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Buoyed by previously released cuts like "Fractures," "Feel Good," and "Walking Away," Awake fared even better, peaking at number three. Showcased on Awake are guest appearances by Said the Sky, Kerli, Daya, and the single "Leaving."

DJ-Kicks: the Compilation that Redefined Electronic Music

"DJ-Kicks is the most important DJ mix series ever." It was Mixmag, the English reference magazine for electronic music that wrote it. It's hard to deny it: since 1995, the German label !K7 has been making flawless albums with more than 60 volumes by entrusting its mixes to leading artists. Pioneer of the genre at a time when this art form was not widely known, the label succeeded in introducing the mix outside of the clubs while popularising electronic music with the general public.

The Dark Side of the Moon: An Astronomical Success

Pink Floyd's ground-breaking album The Dark Side of the Moon was the result of a long creative process that began around 1968. A Saucerful of Secrets (the main track from the eponymous album) was, for Nick Mason at least, where it all began. Their next album Ummagumma (1969) gave each band member the opportunity to create a solo piece, though they would have to combine their talents if they wanted to hit the jackpot. Pink Floyd continued to search for the perfect record with Meddle, an album which highlighted their skills in the studio, and Atom Heart Mother, before they reached nirvana with The Dark Side of the Moon. And the album’s perfection hasn’t faded one bit.

Max Richter, Neo-classical Activist

With the release of his new album Exile, a reflection on exile with the Baltic Sea Orchestra, the iconoclast and prolific pioneer of the neo-classical movement confirms his status as one of the most ideologically committed artists out there. Melding classical and electronic music, physical and emotional worlds, he produces instrumental works of rare evocative power.
