Valerie Broussard
Idioma disponível: inglêsSinger and songwriter Valerie Broussard introduced her moody, atmospheric pop in the mid-2010s, when songs like "One of My Kind" and "A Little Wicked" began appearing on music-sharing sites as well as in commercials and on television series -- often uncredited. By that time, she was also working as a songwriter-for-hire, contributing to tracks recorded by artists including Sam Feldt and Kashka. Broussard eventually hit the U.S. dance/electronic charts as a performer when she was featured on Kygo's "Think About You" in 2019, kicking off a string of hits, including the Kygo duet "The Truth" and 2021's "Sideways" by Illenium and Nurko. Her debut EP, Voyager, saw release later in 2021. Broussard was born and raised in Philadelphia, where she first began writing songs. It was after moving overseas to London at the age of 18, however, that she honed the ominous style she later brought back to the States, where she signed with Round Hill Music Publishing. In the mid- to late 2010s, several of her songs, such as "A Little Wicked," "Start a War" (a duet with Klergy), and "Cross My Heart" were featured on TV shows including but not limited to Lucifer (Fox), Inhumans (ABC), and Riverdale (CW). Meanwhile, she co-wrote songs that made the final cut on albums such as Sam Feldt's Sunrise to Sunset and Kashka's Relax, both from 2017. Broussard released the more uplifting single "Hold on to Me" in October 2018, coinciding with its placement on ABC's Grey's Anatomy. In 2019, Broussard signed to Kygo's newly formed Palm Tree Records label, and that March, she landed in the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with a featured spot on the single "Think About You." A month later, violinist Lindsey Stirling made an appearance on Broussard's song "Deeper." Later in the year, her cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" was adopted as the theme for the U.K. series Traces. Kygo and Broussard then peaked at number 11 on the dance/electronic songs chart with the duet "The Truth" in mid-2020. Broussard returned to the Top Ten on the same chart in mid-2021 thanks to a featured spot on Illenium and Nurko's "Sideways," and she continued her hit streak with "Roots," a collaboration with Galantis that reached number 25 on the Dance Club Songs chart. In November 2021, Broussard released her debut solo EP, Voyager.
