Qrion

Japanese-born electronic musician Qrion produces a sweet, glimmering blend of progressive and ambient house. First appearing in the early 2010s and developing her sound through numerous EPs and remixes, she toured around the world, sharing stages with artists such as Above & Beyond and Tourist, and released her debut album, I Hope It Lasts Forever, in 2022. Momiji Tsukada was born and raised in Sapporo, and initially started making electronic music on her phone as a high school student. Gradually upgrading her equipment, she began sharing her recordings online under the name Qrion, ranging from ambient experiments to rough but atmospheric dance tracks. Unexpectedly, her music attracted interest from various netlabels, which released her first EPs and coordinated her debut live appearances. Within a few years, she remixed songs by Porter Robinson, Giraffage, and How to Dress Well, and she collaborated with Ryan Hemsworth on a 2014 song called "Every Square Inch." Qrion moved to San Francisco in 2015, before she learned to speak English, and her music quickly moved in a more house-influenced direction. A self-titled EP appeared in 2016, and the two-song Trip EP was released by OWSLA sublabel Nest in 2017. Two self-released GAF EPs appeared in 2018; both were compiled as a Record Store Day 12" in 2019. She became part of the Anjunabeats family the same year, releasing the EPs Sapporo and Sine Wave Party (with Spencer Brown) on Anjunadeep in 2019, and subsequently remixing tracks by Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden, and Catching Flies. Additional singles and EPs preceded Qrion's debut album, I Hope It Lasts Forever, which arrived on Anjunadeep in 2021.
