Moving Units
Idioma disponível: inglêsLos Angeles' post-punk revivalists Moving Units were formed by original members Blake Miller (vocals), Johan Bogeli (bass), and Chris Hathwell (drums), formerly of the hardcore band Festival of Dead Deer. After their breakup in 2001, the new group formed -- adding Victor Velasquez on guitar -- and began writing and gigging. They expanded their exposure with dates at festivals like This Ain't No Picnic earning them wider attention even before they had any releases. Moving Units signed to Festival of Dead Deer's former label, Three One G, and issued their self-titled debut EP in fall 2002; subsequently they moved to Palm Pictures, which reissued Moving Units in early 2003. In fall 2004, the band released its full-length debut, Dangerous Dreams, which showcased a dance-rock sound similar to the Rapture or the Faint. They scored some high-profile opening slots for tours with Blur and Nine Inch Nails before releasing their darker 2007 follow-up, Hexes for Exes, which added some influence from Interpol and the Bravery into the fray. Four years later, they unveiled the self-released Tension War EP. Miller left the band in 2012, taking the Moving Units moniker with him. Adding new members Danny DeLeon on drums and Mike Delgado on bass, he released the band's next album, Neurotic Exotic, in 2013. The band's disco-punk sound was buffered with fresh electronic elements -- like on lead single "The World Is Ours" -- reflective of Miller's foray into the DJ world in the years between LP releases. In 2016, the band returned with Damage with Care.
