Mondo Cozmo

Boasting a bold, expansive sound that fuses Arcade Fire's epic rock stylings with hip-hop elements and folky, Dylanesque earthiness, Mondo Cozmo is the performing name of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Joshua Ostrander. After garnering buzz with his 2017 debut, Plastic Soul, Cozmo continued to evolve with albums like 2020's energetic New Medicine and 2022's adventurous This Is for the Barbarians. A Philadelphia native, Ostrander began his career as part of the alt-rock band Laguardia, who released a lone LP on Universal Republic in 2004. Along with friend and longtime bandmate Greg Lyons, he soon left to form Eastern Conference Champions, a vigorous indie rock trio who found success recording for Geffen in the late 2000s. In April 2016, Ostrander made his first bid for a solo career with the single "Hold on to Me," his debut release under the Mondo Cozmo name. His second single, "Shine," arrived in September of that year and peaked at number one on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs Airplay chart. It paved the way for his full-length debut, Plastic Soul, which arrived in August 2017. Keeping up his prolific pace, Cozmo released the four-song Your Motherfucker EP in the summer of 2018 while on a major tour supporting Vance Joy. After signing with Toronto-based indie Last Gang Records, he returned in June 2020 with his second full-length album, the more rock-driven New Medicine. Two years later, Cozmo's third full-length, This Is for the Barbarians, took a darker turn and explored the myriad facets of the human experience.
