Mallory Merk

Singer and model Mallory Merk has a sweet, laid-back voice and a sound that balances her love of moody, guitar-based indie rock and earthy alternative R&B. She released her debut EP, Strangers, in 2020, followed two years later by the EP Thorns. Born in Louisiana, Merk grew up in New Jersey, where her brother and uncle introduced her to bands like Nirvana and Alice in Chains. She began playing guitar and piano, and at age 12 had written her first song. At the same time, she also competed in fencing and eventually began modeling in her teens, working on campaigns for Gucci, Yeezy, and Fenty Beauty. All the while, she continued to develop her music, writing songs that addressed her feelings about trauma, drug abuse, and mental health as much as romance and relationships. In early 2020, following a move to Los Angeles, Merk checked herself into a drug rehabilitation program. She returned to her career, and in October 2020 released her debut EP, Strangers. Two stand-alone tracks, "Evol" and "Sinister," arrived in mid-2021, as did Merk's cover of Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl." A follow-up EP, Thorns, appeared in 2022.
