Lucas DiPasquale

Pop singer/songwriter Lucas DiPasquale found viral success in 2014 with an acoustic mash-up of hits by dancehall sensation Popcaan, igniting a unique Canadian/Caribbean collaboration that earned him a major-label deal and influenced his 2015 EP Post-Secondary. After a hiatus, he returned in 2021, teaming up with Toronto singer/rapper B.ROB for a pair of tracks and releasing his own single, "Begging for the Tide." Born and raised in Markham, Ontario, DiPasquale began posting acoustic online covers of a range of artists from Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran to Young Jeezy. His smooth vocals and breezy style earned him a fair number of streams, but it was a 2014 Popcaan mash-up that attracted the attention of the Jamaican dancehall artist himself, which subsequently launched DiPasquale's career. Invited by Popcaan to join him on-stage at Jamaica's Dream Weekend festival, DiPasquale soon found himself caught up in a groundswell of support from the global dancehall community. Released by EMI, his 2015 EP Post-Secondary featured a guest spot from Popcaan along with other dancehall leaders like Agent Sasco and Konshens. After one more EMI single, 2016's "Pager," little was heard from DiPasquale until he resurfaced in 2021 collaborating on a pair of slick R&B tracks with Toronto artist B.ROB. He also self-released a solo single, "Begging for the Tide," that leaned more heavily into his acoustic pop roots.
