Kareen Lomax

A singer and songwriter from Georgia, Kareen Lomax's intimate brand of alternative R&B combines her deep, smooth vocal delivery with an anxious, introspective point of view. Her debut single, 2016's "Melatonin," collected hundreds of thousands of streams. She later garnered tens of millions of plays with her appearance on 2020's "Looking for Me" by Paul Woolford and Diplo. Her debut EP, Hard Feelings, saw release in 2021. Born and raised in suburban Marietta, Georgia, Lomax began writing about her experiences during childhood trips to Virginia to visit her maternal grandparents. She later took up the guitar, first performing covers, then working on developing her own sound. In 2016, she went viral with her first self-released song, "Melatonin," which went viral with only the push of a $50 social-media ad behind it. The brush with fame was short-lived, and after releasing a few more songs, she eventually returned home, where she took a job as a dog groomer and considered quitting music. Instead, in late 2018, she wandered into a studio in Atlanta and met producer Sensei Bueno. He asked her who she was, played her an idea for a beat, and it was all the encouragement she needed to write her next song, "Hard Feelings." While Lomax worked on more material, another fortuitous break came when she slid into Diplo's direct messages, ultimately resulting in her inclusion on the single "Looking for Me." Released in 2020 and credited equally to Paul Woolford, Diplo, and Lomax, the song landed in the Top 20 of multiple Billboard dance charts, including Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. Lomax released her debut EP, Hard Feelings, in April 2021.
