Florian Glemser
Pianist Florian Glemser is active as a soloist, a chamber music player, and an accompanist. As a youth, he played both classical music and jazz.
Glemser was born in Kaiserslautern in southwestern Germany in 1990. His father, Bernd Glemser, was a professor. He began taking music lessons from his mother when he was three, and at seven, he made his concert debut. Glemser won a local youth music competition and was admitted to a gifted education program at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, where his father was on the faculty. He won more prizes, including a special prize at the Nuremberg Piano Competition and a first prize at the Rotary Competition in Essen; the latter included a performance at the Ruhr Piano Festival held at the Philharmonie hall in Essen. In 2007, Glemser appeared as a soloist with the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and in his early years, he was active as a jazz pianist. Already touring around Germany and beyond, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, studying with his father. At this point, he decided to focus on classical music exclusively. He received scholarships from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Folkes, the German National Academic Foundation, and the Hans-und-Eugenia-Jütting Foundation. Glemser went on to the Royal Academy of London, where he studied with Hamish Milne. He racked up more honors, including the Jury Discretionary Prize at the Jacques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition and the Rosario Marciano Competition. In 2017, Glemser made his recording debut on the Ars Produktion label with the album Schumann: Waldszenen; Kreisleriana; Gesänge der Frühe.
Glemser has appeared as a soloist with the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra in Pforzheim. He often performs as one half of a piano duo with his wife, Franziska Glemser, and he has been part of various chamber music groups. Glemser released an album of short works by Beethoven on the Oehms Classics label in 2019, and he returned in 2022 on CAvi-music as accompanist to violinist Sophie Wang on the album Clara & Robert Schumann. Since 2016, he has been on the faculty at the Vocational School of Music in Dinkelsbühl.
