DJ Kent

Active since the early 2000s, DJ Kent grew to become one of South Africa's more accomplished DJs and producers. He eventually developed a style that blended club rhythms, pop hooks and his own unique approach to mixing. This style defined both his productions for other artists and successful albums of his own such as 2013's The Weekent. DJ Kent was born Khensani Mabaso in Pimville, Soweto, South Africa. He got his start DJing private parties but was soon working on tracks of his own as well as mixing radio versions of other artists' singles. In 2007, he released his debut full-length, Mixing Business with Pleasure Reloaded, and followed it with a string of singles and remixes. His 2013 album The Weekent found DJ Kent on such a roll that it was certified gold in less than a month's time. His 2016 collection Evolution X was a stylistically varied affair, with different vocalists contributing to Kent's rhythmic instrumentals.
