Annika Wells

Singer and songwriter Annika Wells is a gifted pop artist with a candid, lyrical style she has showcased on her own and with other artists. She first gained widespread attention for her collaborations with electronic DJ/producer Illenium on several Top Ten Dance/Electronic Songs hits, including 2017's "Crawl Outta Love" and 2020's "Nightlight." Wells has also penned songs for the Jonas Brothers, BTS, Hailee Steinfeld, and the Chainsmokers, among others. Her debut EP, Eat Dirt, arrived in 2023. Born in 1996, Annika Marie Wells grew up in Sleepy Hollow in Marin County, California, where she started taking piano lessons at age four. She also wrote poetry and was writing her own songs by her teens. It was while studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston that she wrote and recorded her debut single, "Break," a collaboration with her friend, producer Guilio Cercato. They posted the track online and it went viral, nabbing the attention of labels and artists. Wells started taking jobs as a songwriter and made the move to Los Angeles to better pursue her career. It was there that she penned "Crawl Outta Love" for Illenium, who released it in 2017 with her vocals. That song also took off, hitting the Top 30 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Charts and taking home the grand prize at the International Songwriting Competition. More collaborations with Illenium followed, including "Sad Songs" with Broken Sky and "Broken Ones" with Anna Clendening." Wells also joined Illenium on tour in 2019 and again scored a Top Ten Dance Chart hit with 2020's "Nightlight." At the same time, she built a list of credits, writing songs for a bevy of other artists, including Hailee Steinfeld, the Chainsmokers, the Jonas Brothers, BTS, Whethan, Sabrina Carpenter, Steve Aoki, Tove Styrke, and Matoma, among many others. As a solo artist, Wells continued to release a string of singles, including 2021's "Love Sucks" and "Bitter End," and 2022's "Modern Art." In 2023, she delivered her debut EP, Eat Dirt, which featured the singles "Suck It" and "Crying Over You."
