It seems the critics (Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Mixmag…) have all agreed on one thing: with Once, Peggy Gou has found the right balance for the production of quality house music, respecting the genre’s precepts while still pushing them ever further. Even though this maxi single might not leave a smouldering impression from the very first listen, the finesse of the production, coupled with touches of originality delicately blended in this multi-layered groove, will definitely have the effect of a time bomb! It’s easy to imagine how the Berlin-based South Korean DJ/producer will ignite the warm afternoons of Amsterdam’s Dekmantel Festival this summer, with the track It Makes You Forget (Itgehane) and its swaying samba rhythm, and Han Jan, on which, for the first time, Gou allows herself to sing in her native language – to our greatest delight!
