Fans of the late Seattle art-punk bands Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Makes Graves have reason to rejoice since Jaguar Love represents a fusion of the two, with Blood Brothers vocalist Johnny Whitney and guitarist Cody Votolato joining up with Pretty Girls’s multi-instrumentalist Jay Clark. The music is similar to the former acts, too, with Whitney’s girlish squeals immediately recognizable, and the familiar slashing post-hardcore guitars in place. “My Organ Sounds Like…” touches on bouncy glam-pop, a genre particularly hospitable to Whitney’s voice. Less a brand-new project than a continuation, Jaguar Love is still an intriguing new chapter in the story of Seattle punk.
