Blue Roses From the Moons expands the smoother sounds of Flyer by bringing Nanci Griffith firmly into the adult alternative playing field -- not only does Don Gehman, the producer behind Hootie & the Blowfish, produce the record, but Darius Rucker has a vocal cameo, as well. Though the slick sound is a little disarming for longtime fans, Griffith's songwriting remains skilled and assured, and while there aren't as many as standout numbers as before, her graceful melodicism and lyricism and the professional production makes Blue Roses From the Moons a very pleasant listen.
