Ten tracks of Cabaret Voltaire's earliest recordings finds the industrial trio exploring the fringe of experimental music by means of turntable scratching, cut-and-paste techniques (using reel-to-reel tape machines), environmental recordings and even occasional synthesizer textures more akin to Tangerine Dream than Throbbing Gristle, who first released the project on their own label, Industrial Records. The compilation is amazing from a historical standpoint, and surprisingly holds together for more than just historical purposes, even signaling CV's later affinity for electro-pop on the novelty track "Do the Snake."
