Eva Zaïcik
Born in Ivry-sur-Seine, France on July 17, 1987, Eva Zaïcik is a mezzo-soprano that specializes in baroque and romantic music. She first came to prominence in 2018 when she won the Revelation Opera Singers award at the Victoires de la Musique Classique as well as Second Prize in the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Belgium) and in the Voix Nouvelles competition. Her musical journey began when she started singing in choir when she was young. Discovering lyrical singing as a teenager, Eva Zaïcik studied at Lycée Eugène Delacroix in Maisons-Alfort and graduated in 2005. She started vocal studies in the Maîtrise de Notre Dame de Paris before joining the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 2011. In 2016, Eva Zaïcik received the Adami Revelation Prize after several opera roles, notably with René Jacobs. She was noticed by Vincent Dumestre, who integrated her into his baroque ensemble Le Poème Harmonique. She played one of the title roles in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Royal Opera of Versailles and took part in the recordings of Lully's opera Phaéton. By 2018, she had become one of opera’s fastest rising performers, winning the Revelation Opera Singers award at the Victoires de la Musique Classique as well as Second Prize in the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Belgium) and in the Voix Nouvelles competition. She collaborated with the Jardin des Voix from the ensemble Les Arts Florissants and recorded her first recital Venez Chère Ombre (2019), with Le Consort by Justin Taylor. In 2021, she collaborated with Le Consort again for 2021’s Royal Handel.
