Louis Langrée’s affinity for Mozart has been renowned ever since he directed the “Mostly Mozart Festival” at the Lincoln Centre in New York with the Salzburg Camerata in 2011. The French conductor is now gaining recognition from his peers, being appointed chief conductor of the Opéra Comique in Paris in November 2021. This saw him accompany one of today’s great voices, Elsa Dreisig, in a programme entirely devoted to Mozart. This French-Danish soprano is probably one of the best interpreters of the composer right now.
This recital focuses on three operas born from possibly the most successful collaboration in the history of opera: a collaboration between the librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, and Mozart. This miraculous feat bore three real gems: Les Noces de Figaro, Don Giovanni and Cosi fan tutte. These profoundly human operas bring together three “operas seria” which feature heroes and heroines from antiquity, namely Elektra (Idomeneo), Cecilio (Lucio Silla) and Vitellia (La Clémence de Titus), as well as women who glorify Mozart’s theatrical genius in a way that still rings true today. © François Hudry/Qobuz
