Chlorine Free, groove seekers

If, as a child, you were to fall into the cauldron of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, you would not emerge unchanged. Chlorine Free know this all too well. Since they started out, this Parisian septet piloted by bassist Virgile Lorach have perfectly digested Hancock's founding moment in jazz fusion, which they have crossed with other passions such as hip hop (mostly the 1988-96 golden age), experimental electro (from Squarepusher to Aphex Twin) and nu soul.

This makes for an instrumental patchwork that has perfectly nourished their albums Start Fresh (2011) and Le Fish (2014), and which does the same for Free Speech. An impeccable third album that is anchored to its own times more than its two predecessors, while keeping a rather vintage touch to its sound.
