Johnny Depp

John Christopher Depp II, better known to the world by the abbreviated stage name Johnny Depp, is an American actor, producer, and musician. Born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky, he first became interested in music after getting a guitar from his mother at age 12. He performed in various bands during high school and beyond, most notably with The Kids. In the mid-1980s, Johnny Depp developed a career in acting, obtaining teen idol status after appearing as an undercover police officer in the TV series 21 Jump Street. Over the next several years, Johnny Depp’s acting career grew considerably, and he consolidated himself as one of the most successful movie stars in his era with roles in films such as Edward Scissorhands and Pirates of the Caribbean. Throughout the years, he would become involved in the occasional musical projects, such as appearing in the 1997 Oasis album Be Here Now playing the guitar, as well as forming the supergroups P in the 1990s and Hollywood Vampires in 2015. In 2022, after a particularly public legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp released the single “This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr.” The sweeping, orchestral ballad is the first promotional single from an album recorded jointly with legendary English rock guitarist Jeff Beck. Titled 18, the album contains a mix of covers and originals, featuring both song tracks and instrumentals.
