Already 8 years have passed since Ben Harper and his Innocent Criminals brought an end to their musical collaboration. It was without counting on the desire of the Californian to find partners for a new adventure. For this album, the musicians have returned to what made them successful in the first place: a stylistic eclecticism, an impeccable guitar sound, and the perfect accompaniment. Call It What It Is is strongly inspired by the ZZ Top sound, with Ben Harper grinding the strings of his guitar in a quality country blues. Deeper and Deeper or Dance Life Fire both highlight the voices of Ben Harper with the acoustic guitar. Shine is a light pop tube – one that the world needs to on a summer’s day, All That Grow is a pretty classic ballad, whereas How Dark Is Gone recalls a very 90's brit-pop, with some sounds of Oasis ... for their return, Harper and his criminals strike a great blow and show that they have lost none of their talent.© AR/Qobuz

Nebraska: When Bruce Springsteen Laid Himself Bare

In 1982, at the height of his glory, the Boss surprised the world with “Nebraska”: a stripped back, entirely acoustic album; a timeless masterpiece bathed in echoes and reflections; an album that describes the fringes of America, and that many consider to be his best.

Nick Cave: Bad Seed

Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds remain one of the most prolific adventures of the post-punk era. Since the late 1980s, the vast magnetism of the Australian singer has swirled through violent paroxysms, fulminating covers, piano ballads and sweaty rock'n'roll. As the years went by, Cave became more and more of a crooner, part way between a punk Frank Sinatra and an austere Johnny Cash.

1972: The Album’s Golden Year

1972 was a monumental year for albums. From the The Rolling Stones to Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin to Big Star, there was an abundance of artists releasing career-defining and redefining music. Here we make our case for ten of the best.
