Simone Riniker Maier

Born in Basel, Switzerland, Simone Riniker Maier was raised in a musical family, and she began taking lessons on the violin at age 5 from her first teacher, Cécile Guéneux. When she was 17, she left Basel to become a student in Riza Yidiz's class in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. After passing her examinations, she studied with Federico Agostini at the Trossingen Music College, where she received her diploma in concert performance. After participating in a number of master classes and competitions, she concentrated her energies in the field of chamber music, with a special interest in new music. Prominent among the ensembles she has played with is the New Stuttgart String Quartet. She was also a member of the Munich Chamber Orchestra from 1997 to 2003. Since then, she has been a freelance musician, based in Weinstadt, Baden-Württemberg.
