Mahmood

Alessandro Mahmoud (September 12, 1992), aka Mahmood, is an Italian singer-songwriter from Milan. He rose to the public eye after competing on the sixth season of the music competition show The X Factor in 2012, after which he worked a series of odd jobs while beginning to write his own material. In 2013, Mahmood released his debut single “Fallin’ Rain,” followed by “Dimentica” (2016), “Pesos” (2017), and his debut EP, Gioventù Bruciata in 2018. A full-length album of the same name was released in 2019 to great critical and commercial acclaim, reaching Number 1 on the Italian charts and obtaining platinum certification. Prior to that, “Soldi,” one of the singles from the album, had won the 69th Sanremo Music Festival with a stellar performance featuring rapper Gue Pequeno. The track was also chosen as the Italian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, finishing runner-up after Dutch singer Duncan Laurence. Preceded by the singles “Rapide,” “Dorado” with fellow rapper Sfera Ebbasta and Colombian singer Feid, “Inuyasha,” “Zero,” and "Klan," his second album Ghettolimpo saw the light in 2021 and peaked at Number 2 on the Italian charts.
