Juliette Armanet

A versatile French singer, pianist, songwriter, author, and journalist, Juliette Armanet emerged in the mid-2010s with a sound rooted in both contemporary Euro-pop, rock, and the soulful, '70s pop stylings of artists like Véronique Sanson and Barbara. A native of Lille, Armanet took to music and books early on and eventually became a documentary journalist. She embarked on a music career in 2014 with the release of her debut single, "L'amour en Solitaire." Two years later she delivered the EP Cavalier Seule, with her first full-length effort, Petit Amie, arriving in 2017 -- the LP took home the trophy for Best Newcomer at 2018's Victoires de la Musique awards (the French equivalent of the Grammys). Armanet teamed up with French psych-rockers Moodoid for the single "Ideal" in 2020, and the following year she issued the ebullient, club-ready solo track "Le Dernier Jour du Disco."
